Persona Bio:

Euriol is the daughter of one of the ladies in waiting to the Queen of Scotland, Joan of England. Euriol's mother had a passionate affair with a noble lord from the land of Wales. It was her father who gave Euriol her name, and went off to battle the day after they were wed. Euriol never knew her father, it is presumed he died honorably in protecting the King. As a young woman she met a grizzlied old Norseman who claimed he was going a Viking, his name Eirik Haarfager Göransson. He took her away from the court of Scotland, and together they found a happy home in the Kingdom of the West. They settled there for many years, having two sons Ian and Stefanus. Yet the urge to go a Viking again struck the old norseman, and they found themselves now living in the Sylvan Kingdom of Æthelmearc, in the Barony of the Endless Hills. Euriol and Eirik found themselves drifting apart and Eirik met a new love. Euriol decided to see the world on her own for the first time. In her travels Euriol came across a kind squire and his wife, who bade her welcome into their home. Feeling at peace, save for the longing of her dear sons, Euriol found a new home for herself. Little did she know that when the squire’s knight returned to his keep, that her life would be changed forever. Duke James smiled at Euriol upon first sight, and she was smitten. The Duke treated Euriol kindly with love, affection and respect and took her as his consort in his home. It would not be long before a troubled conscience sent Duke James off on pilgrimage. Euriol would say a prayer every night for the safekeeping of James, but each day was met with no word of his well being. Euriol held strongly upon her faith that the good Duke would someday return. One day, nearly a year after James departed, another man stepped foot into the Barony, returning from his own pilgrimage. This noble squire, Lord Michael of Exeter, befriended Euriol and swore to her protect until Duke James returned. Michael’s companionship brought a smile to Euriol’s face that had not been seen since the days before James departed. Euriol & Michael can usually be found in the kitchen together happily cooking away.

Other SCA Activities:

I have always loved cooking, since I was a little girl, and the joy of cooking found its place in the SCA by researching and cooking medieval food. My goal is to educate people more about medieval food and that it is not all strange and odd tasting. I enjoy cooking feasts and teaching classes. Over the years I've been the head cook for many feasts and have explored cuisine for English, French, German, Andalusian, Catalan, Italian and Roman thus far.

Mundane Bio:

Cassandra Baldassano is a Software Developer living in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. She was born and raised in San Jose, California. She attended San Jose State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics in 1989 and where she met her former husband, Robert Baldassano, while taking statistics. Cassandra spent the next fifteen years in her dream job. She was a contractor at NASA Ames Research Center in their Advanced Supercomputing Facility. Due to downsizing, her position was eliminated in June 2004. When Rob got offered the job to work in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, it was an easy decision to move the family. Cassandra and Rob found themselves drifting apart after the move and when it was decided that the marriage was in name only, Cassandra filed for divorce in July 2005. The divorce was finalized in March 2006. Cassandra is currently working on a government contract through the Department of Defense. Cassandra has been a member of Weight Watchers in efforts to lose weight. To date, she has lost over 50 pounds.

Scadian Life:

I first joined the SCA in A.S. XXIV in the Province of Southern Shores (Fall 1989 in San Jose, California) having been introduced to the SCA by my boyfriend, Lord Eirik Haarfager Göransson. Eirik and I were wedded in 1992. We were blessed with our first son Ian in 1993. Then in 1995 we were blessed with the birth of our second son Stefanus. I lived and played in the same area for the next 15 years, having served a variety of offices within Province of Southern Shores, Shire of Ecorngill, Principality of the Mists and Kingdom of the West. I also was the head cook for many events over these years. I even managed to autocrat and co-autocrat a few events as well. I raised my children within the SCA, taking them to events within the first few months after they were born. In October A.S. XXXIX I moved from the West Kingdom to the Barony of Endless Hills in the Sylvan Kingdom of Æthelmearc. In 2005 Eirik & I separated, and I filed for divorce. I currently serve as the clerk for the Order of the Pelican in the Kingdom of Æthelmearc and the Arts & Sciences officer within the Barony and have been the Head Cook for some of the Baronial feasts. In January 2006 I met Duke Sir James Ahearn, and have been madly in love ever since. Duke James is currently not active in the SCA. I have been very fortunate to make the friendship of Lord Michael of Exeter, and I am honored to be his consort.
