Persona Bio: |
The only child born to a couple in Swrods, a city not too far north of Dubh Linn on the southeastern shore of Ireland. Veda was raised by her parents to follow her family’s druidic path. Her name, Veda, was given to her because of her pre-cognitive abilities and rapid development as a child, and means “to see” and “to know”. I n 835, at the age of 16, her parents were killed during the invasion of Britain by the Norse. They were innocents caught in the crossfire of a struggle. Veda was the only surviving member of her family. She was found in her family’s cottage, and taken in by one of the Vikings, Orn, as a daughter. He and his wife Gellir had none, but wanted one badly. Orn realized that Veda was not only beautiful, but she also possessed fire in her soul and an iron will. This would make her a formidable warrior, despite her size and gender. She was petite and not the strongest girl, but Orn knew that with a little bit of training, her upper body strength would increase. He promised to take care of her and asked her to return to Norway with him. She went willingly for Ireland was, at this time, too painful a place to live and because Orn was so generous to take her in as his own. Upon the return to Norway, she began her training and also studies in the Norse religion. She took on the Norse name Dis, meaning ‘Goddess” in addition to her birth name. She did not drop her original name due to it being bestowed upon her by the people from which her blood flows and because it has always been part of her spiritual activities. The duality of her name represents both where she’s been and where she’s going, and the place she is currently at in her life. Now, ten years later, at 26 years of age, she still follows a druidic path, but has combined it with what she learned from her adoptive family. In the ten years of her studies, she has become a ward of Tyr and Freja. She has also become a force to reckon with when she has to fight for any reason. At the age of 24, she returned to her birthplace and now lives on the land where she was raised for the first 16 years of her life. Her two brothers, Feilan and Gra’feldr, also live within her vast fields and forest, though in different domiciles so as to give Veda-Dis her privacy to study her integrated path in peace. She often spars with her brothers to keep her fighting skills sharp. Veda-Dis likes to spend her free time wandering on her property just enjoying her surroundings. She also likes to write and sketch what she observes around her. She awaits the day when the long foreseen mad man with a good heart comes to make her his wife and the mother of his children. Upon the return of Hrafna, she will know him. |
